Is It Possible to Lose Weight Without a Viable Weight Loss Plan?

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Is It Possible to Lose Weight Without a Viable Weight Loss PlanAs to whether or not is possible for one to lose weight without having any weight loss plan, the answer is a plain NO. Typically, people lose weight for various reasons, but the major reason as to why many lose weight is because they are not pleased by how they look. Sadly though, this reason is such a fickle feeling and doesn’t give enough motivation to take on a weight loss plan and carry it to completion.

Overweight people can easily get through life fairly safe and sound if they can avoid situations that involve an athletic event or putting on a swimsuit. What justifies this is because many people today are fat hence everybody seems to fit in perfectly. It’s a fact that many people, if not all, use food as a source of elevating the moods in times of stress and stuff, and it sure does wonders.

This justifies the fact that the motivation of many people is their looks, and sadly, not their health. If however someone can take the time to understand how dangerous and risky obesity is, it should be reason enough to take weight loss seriously. It is a widely known fact that obesity is a killer, as it is associated with the three most dangerous conditions – diabetes, cancer, and heart disease (atherosclerotic). (more…)

Tips to Lose Weight the Healthy Way

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

This is a guest article by Lisa Roberts. Lisa is the co-writer of a popular weight loss site that will teach you how to lose weight and keep it off!

Portion Control – Just like everything in life, too much of anything is a bad thing. This is why it is essential to allow yourself a little room to include some of your favorite foods. Cutting out all of your favorite foods will not only decrease your chances of staying on a diet, but it also increases your chances of binging. It is beneficial for you to eat foods you love and still lose weight. You can have a little treat here and there, but learn to eat a lower fat version of it. For instance, if you love cheese, buy a lower 2% fat cheese spread, as opposed to the higher fat version.

Take Notes – Watching what you eat is important, but writing it down is equally important. This is because even though you may keep an eye on what you eat, there is still a tendency that you may not keep an accurate count of fat grams or calories. When you write it down it puts your diet in perspective and allows you calculate your calories and fat a lot more consistently.

Stick a Wedding Invitation or Favorite Place to Visit on the Fridge – This is the same concept as having a not so favorable picture of yourself on the refrigerator. You know the one that shows your bad side. This is a reminder to keep yourself motivated whenever you feel like making a mad dash for the fridge. (more…)

Running and Weight Loss

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

running and weight lossRunning is one of the most effective ways to burn calories and lose weight. You lose approximately 100 calories for every mile that you run. Before you set out to run, you should set a goal in your running weight loss plan for example how much weight you want to lose, how long each running session will be, and the distance you run. The further the distance you run and the longer time you spend running, the more weight you will lose.

Next, you should create a running plan based on your goals including the route, and the distance of the route. If you plan to run five times a week, your running route should be five miles. (more…)

Extreme Weight Loss Methods

Majority of us know that weight loss is a gradual process that should be carried out progressively and it also takes a lifetime commitment in order to stay healthy. However, most of us are impatient and wants to get the result faster. Consequently, people begin to try extreme weight loss methods that can hurt their health. Although you can lose weight through extreme weight loss methods, you are also putting your life at jeopardy.

Some people are so desperate to lose weight that they are willing to compromise to anything regardless of the health risks.

Diuretics are drugs used to increase the amount of urine. Diuretics will not make you lose real weight but only water. People who take Diuretics will have an excessive water loss from their body, and a common side effect is dehydration. Users of diuretics will lose vital fluids and electrolytes which are important for the proper function of the heart, kidney and liver. (more…)

The Importance of Walking

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Importance of WalkingWalking is the exercise that does everything. If you have been having trouble finding a good way to exercise — one that you can stick to without too much trouble — try walking. Walking briskly will really get you into shape. It will firm up your muscles, tone your cardiovascular system, and enable you to lose weight. And it is the simplest and easiest kind of exercise around, as it does not require any special equipment or facilities.

At the University of California, they have found that walking is the best solution for overweight people who just can’t keep to a diet. They told a group of women they studied for a year to eat whatever they wanted to but to get out and walk. And they walked and walked —up to 2 or 3 hours a day.

It is often said that you can’t actually lose weight by exercise alone. They found this was simply not true. Their walkers ate more than they had before, as a matter of fact, but they lost an average of 22 pounds a year — or close to half a pound a week. This is a relatively slow rate of loss, but it has its disadvantages. If you lose weight slowly, you have a better chance of keeping it off. And your skill will adapt more easily to your new shape as it shrinks. (more…)
