Drinking water is essential if you want to lose weight. Research has shown that thirst and hunger works together. Because most foods contain water, one who doesn’t drink much water might be driven to eat more and consequently you increased your consumption of calories. If you drink lots of waters everyday, you can prevent overeating and shed from the extra pounds. The average person should drink 6 – 8 glasses of water every day.  

Exercising regularly is important in order to lose weight effectively. Exercising helps you to control your body weight by using the excess calories that will be otherwise converted to fat in your body. Regular exercise will make you stronger and healthier and prevent you from many diseases. Exercise balance the number of calories in your body and helps you to achieve an ideal weight and body shape.

You should eat six more meals a day instead of three large meals. Research has shown that one who eat his breakfast in small parts over five hours consumer 30% fewer calories that a person who eat a single breakfast. By eating small numbers of calories in small meals, your blood sugar level will be steady and this helps you to control your hunger. You should downsize portion of foods you put in your plates during a meal. Research has shown that if lesser foods is put in front of you, you will tend to eat lesser food. Likewise, the more food you put in your plates in front of you, the more you will eat regardless your hunger level. Instead of using regular plate (10 inches wide) for a meal, use a smaller plate (7 inches wide).

To encourage yourself to lose weight, hang a mirror in front of your dinner table. One study found out that people who eat in front of a mirror eat lesser amount of food by one third. This is because when you look yourselves in the mirror, it reminds you of your inner standards and weight loss goals.

Finding the right diet plan that suit your individual body may take some time. It is important to stick to a diet program in long term basis. If the diet program doesn’t work, you should keep on looking until you find a program that does work for you.
