Is It Possible to Lose Weight Without a Viable Weight Loss Plan?

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Is It Possible to Lose Weight Without a Viable Weight Loss PlanAs to whether or not is possible for one to lose weight without having any weight loss plan, the answer is a plain NO. Typically, people lose weight for various reasons, but the major reason as to why many lose weight is because they are not pleased by how they look. Sadly though, this reason is such a fickle feeling and doesn’t give enough motivation to take on a weight loss plan and carry it to completion.

Overweight people can easily get through life fairly safe and sound if they can avoid situations that involve an athletic event or putting on a swimsuit. What justifies this is because many people today are fat hence everybody seems to fit in perfectly. It’s a fact that many people, if not all, use food as a source of elevating the moods in times of stress and stuff, and it sure does wonders.

This justifies the fact that the motivation of many people is their looks, and sadly, not their health. If however someone can take the time to understand how dangerous and risky obesity is, it should be reason enough to take weight loss seriously. It is a widely known fact that obesity is a killer, as it is associated with the three most dangerous conditions – diabetes, cancer, and heart disease (atherosclerotic). (more…)

Tips to Lose Weight the Healthy Way

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

This is a guest article by Lisa Roberts. Lisa is the co-writer of a popular weight loss site that will teach you how to lose weight and keep it off!

Portion Control – Just like everything in life, too much of anything is a bad thing. This is why it is essential to allow yourself a little room to include some of your favorite foods. Cutting out all of your favorite foods will not only decrease your chances of staying on a diet, but it also increases your chances of binging. It is beneficial for you to eat foods you love and still lose weight. You can have a little treat here and there, but learn to eat a lower fat version of it. For instance, if you love cheese, buy a lower 2% fat cheese spread, as opposed to the higher fat version.

Take Notes – Watching what you eat is important, but writing it down is equally important. This is because even though you may keep an eye on what you eat, there is still a tendency that you may not keep an accurate count of fat grams or calories. When you write it down it puts your diet in perspective and allows you calculate your calories and fat a lot more consistently.

Stick a Wedding Invitation or Favorite Place to Visit on the Fridge – This is the same concept as having a not so favorable picture of yourself on the refrigerator. You know the one that shows your bad side. This is a reminder to keep yourself motivated whenever you feel like making a mad dash for the fridge. (more…)

Weight Loss and Fitness TipsIt’s widely accepted that doing regular exercise and increasing fitness levels will help when trying to lose weight yet many people still find it very difficult to do. The key is finding a way to stay motivated and focused on your end goals. Without focus it becomes very difficult to stick with an exercise programme for any length of time.

The first thing you should do is find a form of exercise that you find interesting and enjoyable. There are a huge number of different sports, exercise classes and techniques for getting fit so you shouldn’t feel you have to do something you don’t enjoy. It’s much harder to stay focused on your end goal when exercise is difficult and boring.

Exercising regularly is very important. You can’t expect to go to the gym once a week for an extended session and see much benefit. It’s nearly always more beneficial to do many shorter sessions throughout the week. For example, try to fit in several sessions of around 30 minutes. You should also keep in mind that the quality of workout is vital. If you spend an hour exercising without really pushing yourself then this is providing little benefit. (more…)

Running and Weight Loss

running and weight lossRunning is one of the most effective ways to burn calories and lose weight. You lose approximately 100 calories for every mile that you run. Before you set out to run, you should set a goal in your running weight loss plan for example how much weight you want to lose, how long each running session will be, and the distance you run. The further the distance you run and the longer time you spend running, the more weight you will lose.

Next, you should create a running plan based on your goals including the route, and the distance of the route. If you plan to run five times a week, your running route should be five miles. (more…)
