Non-Medication Treatment for ADHD ChildrenPlease welcome my Guest Blogger, Jim. Thank you very much for this well-written and informative article!

So your child was recently diagnosed with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and you do not want to start medicating your child daily at this young of an age.  Do not worry, you are not alone.  My son was 10 when he was diagnosed, and he was in his mother’s custody… he was on 13 daily medications for his ADHD and related symptoms!  As any good father, I slowly helped him come off these medications, and now at the age of 16 he is not taking any, plus he is doing great academically and socially!!

It is possible to get your child through life without medicating them daily, even if they have ADHD. ADHD rarely affects a person in adulthood, so doctor’s main concern is helping the child to be able to concentrate in school and listen at home. (more…)

At Google Health you can find almost all conditions and diseases, their symptoms, causes, the treatment and prevention. It also contains information about the complications, the diagnosis and tests of the diseases. In addition, it suggests when you need to contact a doctor. You can also find illustrations regarding the specific condition. In a sum, if you’d like to get more information about any illness or disease, it’s the best place to start.

What You Should Know About Tension

Monday, March 8th, 2010

tensionIs tension a latter-day invention of modern man?

People have always experienced tension as evidence by the wars we’ve had in our history. After all, wars are not exactly a manifestation of a tranquil state of mind, but rather an explosion of sorts. When our forefathers crawled down from the trees and started looking for food and didn’t find food probably their stomach became a little bit tense until they were able to satisfy their hunger. Throughout history, people have obviously experienced unhappiness, which is experienced as internal tension. In the past, people were occupied 14-16 hours a day to struggle for their survival. They had a tension that was associated with where to get food, where to sleep overnight, etc. But once they were able to satisfy that tension, at least they were able to relax for awhile. Today, a person that has his food sits down and worries about the next day. They worry about the future; they worry about what they should buy, etc.

Tension is not really an invention of modem man. People have always experienced tension one way or another. It is just that it is more common now. It’s more constant now. It is related to things other than just surviving. (more…)

Insomnia TreatmentSadly many Americans suffer from insomnia every single night.  Many of us may be tempted to take over-the-counter sleep medications or prescribed sleep medications, but before resorting to them, I would like to caution you.  Medications are not healthy for your body, so there are other non-medical insomnia treatment options available, along with behavioral therapies.

When treating insomnia non-medically, the first step is to find the cause.  Insomnia is known as a symptom, not a disease.  If the cause is found, the original problem, or disease, can be cured or controlled; therefore the symptom of insomnia will disappear.   Finding and solving the cause is the most successful way to treat insomnia.  Example causes of insomnia are: discomfort when sleeping, stress, anxiety, or changes in shift at work. medication pillsMany Americans suffer from insomnia, and unfortunately, a large majority of them do not report their symptoms to their doctors.    Only if they knew to report it to their doctors, they could have a peaceful good night’s sleep.  There are many medical treatments for insomnia.  Doctors can prescribe medications to help the patient relieve his or his anxiety (or whatever is causing the insomnia) and help them fall asleep quicker, plus sleep peacefully all through the night.
